Blue Island Oysters presents the 1st annual 5K to protect the Great South Bay. All profits will go to Operation Blue Earth & Save the Great South Bay! The 5K Run for the Bay is a USATF sanctioned event with a USATF-Certified Course which winds through picturesque south Sayville along the Great South Bay and other waterways of Sayville. The event will benefit two local organizations; Operation Blue Earth and Save the Great South Bay. Operation Blue Earth is a grassroots movement founded by the Blue Island Oyster farmers of the Great South Bay, whose mission is to raise awareness of the harmful effects of chemical lawn fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides on our bay. Save the Great South Bay is dedicated to the revitalization of the bay through sustainable initiatives and community outreach.
